As the year 2020 came to a close, the Android platform saw varying performance trends across the top fast food and fast casual dining apps in the United States. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the app engagement metrics for this sector during the fourth quarter.

McDonald's showed a noticeable increase in downloads, starting the quarter with approximately 131K downloads and peaking at around 166K in mid-December before dipping to about 120K by the end of December. Similarly, weekly active users (WAUs) exhibited growth, with a starting point of 1.57M and a peak of 1.68M, before ending the quarter at around 1.48M.

Starbucks experienced a moderate fluctuation in downloads, beginning with around 77K and reaching up to 84K in early November, with a decline towards the end of the quarter at approximately 75K. The trend in WAUs for Starbucks showed a decrease from 1.09M to around 899K over the quarter.

The Taco Bell Fast Food & Delivery app saw a sharp spike in downloads in early December, skyrocketing to 220K from a starting point of roughly 38K. WAUs for Taco Bell also peaked in early December at over 519K, significantly higher than the starting figure of 263K.

The BURGER KING® App displayed a steady increase in downloads over the quarter, from 56K to a peak of 68K, before ending slightly lower at about 49K. WAUs demonstrated stability, beginning at around 560K and ending the quarter near 524K.

Lastly, Domino's Pizza USA showed an unusual download pattern with two significant peaks, the first at 106K and the second at 110K, while ending the quarter at around 56K. The WAUs for Domino's fluctuated, starting at 398K, peaking at 514K, and closing the quarter at approximately 413K.

Overall, the fourth quarter of 2020 saw varied engagement with fast food and fast casual dining apps on Android in the U.S., with some apps experiencing significant peaks in downloads and active users.
